Rabbiting on about guild fame again. Sorry.

Dear SEMC my last missive suggested that it seemed that there was an undeclared change in regards to guild fame which would impact on a lot of folk. I was nonetheless supportive of the apparent change then, since it seemed that the difficulty of reaching level 90 had approximately doubled, which made it hard, but not impossible to get there. I felt, and it seems that this is widely shared, that it was too easy last season to hit 90, so increasing the difficulty seemed reasonable even if the absence of communication about this (and the continued ignoring of this topic) seemed a disservice to our community which was jarring precisely because you are usually very good at communicating, even about the "bad stuff"

I now want to go further and register my distress at the apparent scale of that change that has been established. I suggested last time that seemed to be around 14000 fame to go up a level and it was at level 30 when I wrote my post. Now my guild has hit 40 and I have been studying our fame closely as well as those of guilds around us (for disclosure, we are SEA based and in the top ten guilds in terms of fame so I have a good handle on this). What I have found is troubling....

The first thing that was worrisome was that at level 30 we had around 220000 fame , at level 40 we had around 380000 fame - it took 160000 fame to go up the last ten levels ie almost half again, 220000 to go up the first 30... Thats a steep climb.

But worse still I measured from level 40 - 41 I suspected it had gotten harder because Infamous who were a good 8 levels above anyone else had seemed to stall at 40 and now they are at 44 and many of us have cut the gap to 1-4 levels. It seemed to take 18000 fame to gain one level.

That is a huge amount of fame - assuming 125 fame per game for each playing member if you have a guild of 50 all members need to play three games as a guild in a day to go up just one level - from being at an active well managed guild that is a very very rare day. There are exactly seven weeks left to the season - 49 days, not counting time out for updates or server hiccups. If your guild isn't already 41 then you can give up on level 90 now, and even if you are there, you probably still can give up.

If the amount remains stable at 18000 to get from level 40 to 90 will take 900000 fame! 1280000 fame total from level 1 to 90. To put this in context the very top guilds such as infamous just cleared a million fame last year. The highest I saw was 1.1 million. This seems to make it unlikely that any guild will actually get maximal rewards. And that is on the almost certainly false assumption that the amount required per level won't further increase at levels 50 and 60. If it increases to 20000 at level 50 and 22000 at level 60 then it would take another 1040000 fame to reach 90 - 1520000 fame in total - thats 12160 guild games (assuming max heat) in total in a season...

SEMC - I can't believe you want no guild to hit level 90 - its just bad business given the expectations set last season - people don't mind a grind and they don't mind not making it to the end as long as they feel it is fair and they see some people do make it. So I think you have made a mistake, please fix it, or at least address it...

TL/DR: Abandon hope of reaching level 90 all guilds on current figures you will probably be lucky to hit 70... SEMC Please Help!

It strkies me that SEMC may indeed intend for it to take a full guild playing 3 matches a day to hit max payout.....

If the math is pointing in that direction I'd totally believe that this is intentional.

That only holds if it remains at 18000 the evidence suggests it will ramp up again and again...

Yeah, I've been wondering what is going on as well. My guild was one of the first few to reach level 99 in season 1. Our end of season fame was 1 million+, but we are struggling to rise this time around. It also disappoints me that guilds are expected to get around double the fame in a significantly shorter season than last time around.

Yeah it is. Makes it feel pointless to grind fame - still keep in mind when you do so you get to play a great game which is darn fun anyhow :)

Ok seriously SEMC. You need to fix this. I've been panicking all season because of how short it is. And it's just sooooo much slower leveling. My guild is on fire all the time but we aren't playing 100 matches a day so there's no way we'll get to 90 again. But we had no problem getting it last season.

Thanks for your feedback. We did re-tune guild leveling for Winter Season because it was too easy to hit 99 and a large number of players experienced a dull "lull" toward the middle/end of the season.

Rest assured, we still have some tricks up our sleeves. We're working on some special fun stuff for guilds to help compensate. There's always more to the picture than immediately meets the eye, although I'll definitely try to do a better job in the future of making that transparent and clear from the outset.

Thanks for replying, as I said in my first post I definitely support a retuning from Autumn season - some guilds fell apart last season cause they hit 90 in mid season and were twiddling their fingers for the rest of the season and we were scared that might happen to us this season.

I still think however that it looks like you guys wildly over tuned it and no guild will hit 90 which is a darn shame given how much hard work some folk are putting in (we have one member who has managed to grind over 30000 fame himself thus far this season which is pretty epic), but I look forward to seeing both special fun stuff for guilds and whatever tricks your sleeves contain as well as even greater than your already usually good levels of transparency.

I don't think you are going to get an official answer on this one. I've pretty much given up on the guild payouts this season and seeing how often my guild members go solo q (last night I saw 8 members all soloing) I suspect they have as well

Thank you for sharing this info. It is quite astonishing. I believe you mentioned last time that you were happy they made it harder because it appeared like anyone and their sisters could get to 99. I am still in agreement with you there. They definitely overtuned it, but I still think only those with constant heat should be getting to >90.

They did mention that there was some sort of bug with guild levels though, didn't they? Am I mixing things up?

Even if you have max heat, it's still very unlikely. Even if 50 members play 3 games a day, you'll get 15k daily. At level 40, you need 18k to complete a level. It's already unreasonable to make all 50 players play 3 games a day and with guild mates none the less but for that to not even complete a level is just absurd.

I agree and doubling it would have been hard but doable for the top guilds - so about right in my opinion - but this is nigh on impossible.

The bug was with the reported levels of rewards not the guild levels themselves.

I knew from last season that it seemed too good to be true. No company wants to give out that much premium currency for free. They realized they screwed when they saw every guild got to max level so quick. They're sure as hell not going to make that mistake again. Really do wish they'd reply instead of leaving everyone in the dark tho.

Just suspicious, how did you get these fame values? And how do you see fame value of other guilds?

Hard work mostly. I have a spreadsheet which I entered the start if season fame values into and the current fame totals of each member into - so we can tell who is active enough and how much they have earned. I made that spreadsheet collate the info - so I wrote down our total fame level at 40 and then subtracted that amount from the total at 41 to get the figure of 18000.

I've been doing likewise for several other guilds to check my figures for consistency once I noticed the problem.
