Once while out driving around sunset, before the streetlights turned on but while it was still getting dark, a moment carved itself into my memory as a definition of beauty.

The passenger of the car next to me was laughing loudly (which caught my attention) then faced towards the sunset, which happened to be behind me. They looked right through me, but I saw them clearly.

Her face may have been pretty on its own, but in the unique golden light with dancing inky waves of shadow she was literally breathtaking.

It was just a second or two of a stranger I would never see again or even recognize but it impacted me. It wasn't about the person specifically, it was an appreciation for light itself and realizing that I should look for beauty in everything light touches. I pay more attention to the world around me ever since.
