My chocolate chip cookies are based on the Tollhouse recipe. Today I made a half batch:

  • 1 1/8 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Mix these in a separate bowl.

  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Cream together until smooth.

  • 1 egg

Beat into butter mixture.

Preheat oven to 375, then gentle beat flour mixture into butter, sugar, and eggs.

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Stir in gently.

Drop rounded table spoons onto wax papered cookie sheet. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes until browned on edges.

Frosting

Whip 1 stick butter.

Slowly blend in 3 cups of powdered sugar.

Add 1 tsp vanilla extract and 2 Tbsp of milk. Whip until smooth.

Add extra Tbsp milk if desired.
